Markdown Toolkit

Privacy Policy

Everything runs on your device.

Last updated: October 9, 2026

The short version

Markdown Toolkit, the browser extension, does not collect, store on a server, sell or share any personal data.

What stays on your device

  • Pages and files you convert. Web pages, selections and files are converted to Markdown inside your browser. Their content is never sent to us or to anyone else.
  • Settings. Your preferences are saved with the browser’s extension storage. If you have browser sync turned on, the browser syncs them between your own devices.
  • Editor draft. The document in the editor is saved locally so it is still there when you come back.

Network requests

The extension makes no requests to servers of its own; it has none. When a document or a page preview contains images, the browser loads those images from the addresses written in that document, the same as opening it normally.

Permissions

The extension reads a web page only when you ask it to: by opening its popup, using its right-click menu or pressing its shortcut. It renders Markdown files you open in a tab, and re-reads a local file only to refresh the tab that is showing it.

This website

This policy covers the Markdown Toolkit extension. The cofiapps.com website, including this page, is covered by the CofiApps privacy policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page if the extension changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect any revision.
