Daily Check-in Journal Template: Two Questions, One Minute
A free daily check-in template: two questions, about a minute. What to write, an example, and how to make it stick in Daykept.
The smallest journal that still works. Two questions, one or two sentences each, and you're done. Use it on days when a full entry feels like too much, which for most people is most days.
The template's own note: Take a minute to write honestly. No judgment, just awareness.
The questions
- How are you feeling today?
- What's been on your mind?
How to answer them
- Answer the first question with a word before a sentence. "Tired." "Restless." "Actually good." The sentence can come after.
- For the second, write what keeps coming back, not what you think you should be thinking about.
- Skip the polish. Nobody grades this. Half sentences count.
Example
An example of a filled-in entry:
How are you feeling today?
Restless. Slept fine, but I can't settle.
What's been on your mind?
Whether to say yes to the extra project. I keep going back and forth.
A month of these is enough to notice things: which weekdays drain you, what tends to come before a rough patch.
