Morning Intentions Journal Template: Priorities and How You Want to Feel

A free morning journal template: your top three priorities and how you want to feel today. Example, tips, and how to use it in Daykept.

Two questions before the day starts pulling you in every direction: what matters most, and how you want to feel while you do it.

The template's own note: Pick what matters most, not everything that's possible.

The questions

  1. What are my top 3 priorities today?
  2. How do I want to feel throughout the day?

How to answer them

  • Three is a ceiling, not a target. One real priority beats three wishes.
  • Write priorities as actions: "send the draft", not "the project".
  • The feeling question sets the tone. Calm, focused, patient, light. Then notice at night whether it happened.

Example

An example of a filled-in entry:

What are my top 3 priorities today?
Send the draft to Alex. Pick up the kids on time. 20-minute walk.

How do I want to feel throughout the day?
Unhurried. I want to stop rushing between things.

Pair it with a morning reminder in Daykept (pick Morning or your own time) and with the Evening Wind-Down at night to close the loop.

Use it in Daykept

  1. Open Daykept and tap Settings in the bottom bar, then Templates.
  2. On the Gallery tab, find Morning Intentions (it's in Daily Reflection) and tap Use now. A new entry opens with the questions in place.
  3. Want it one tap away? Tap Save to keep it in My Templates. Daykept also suggests the templates you used most recently at the top of a blank new entry.

It's one of the 14 free templates in the Gallery. You can also edit your own copy (reword a question, drop one, add one) and save it as your own template.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a morning journal take?

Two or three minutes. Write it before you open email or social apps.

What if my priorities change during the day?

That's normal. The point is starting the day with a choice, not keeping every item.
