Backup and sync: keep your Cashvelope data across all your devices
Sign in once. Your transactions, budgets, and categories stay in sync across every device — automatically.
Financial data is the kind of data you cannot afford to lose. Months of logged transactions, carefully set budgets, a category system that took time to configure — if your phone is lost, replaced, or reset, all of that disappears without a backup. Cashvelope’s sync feature protects against exactly this.
Finding the backup and sync option
Tap Settings in the bottom navigation, then tap More Actions. The first option at the top is Sign in to sync — tap it to open the Backup & Sync screen.

Setting up sync
The Backup & Sync screen asks for a display name, an email address, and a password. Enter these once and tap Sign In. Your data — all transactions, budgets, and categories — is securely synced to your account.

After signing in, sync happens automatically in the background. Any new transaction you log is backed up as soon as you save it. You do not need to press a sync button or remember to export anything.
Using Cashvelope on multiple devices
Once your account is set up, signing into the same account on a second device — a tablet, a new phone, or your partner’s phone — loads all your data automatically. Transactions logged on one device appear on the other. Budgets stay consistent. Categories match.
This is useful for households where two people track shared expenses. Both can log transactions on their own phones and see the same up-to-date totals.
Exporting your data as CSV
For users who want their data outside the app — in a spreadsheet, for tax purposes, or for their own records — Cashvelope supports CSV export. Tap Settings from More Actions, and look for the Import/Export CSV option. The export includes all transactions with their dates, amounts, categories, and notes.
App settings at a glance
While you are in the Settings area, it is worth knowing what else is configurable. The Settings screen covers appearance (accent color, light/dark/system theme mode), language, biometric lock for app access, and your primary currency.

Biometric lock is worth enabling if you share your phone with others or want an extra layer of security on financial data. It requires Face ID or fingerprint to open the app.
Your data belongs to you
Sync is optional — Cashvelope works fully offline without an account. Signing in adds backup and multi-device access without changing how the app works day to day. You can export your data at any time, and your financial records are yours to keep.
New to the app? Start with logging your first expense to understand the core workflow, then set up sync once you have data worth protecting.
